Favorite Looks from the First Half of NYFW

As of Sunday, so many beautiful ensembles had made their way down the runway at New York Fashion Week that I decided it was already time to make a “favorite looks” post. I selected my favorite outfits from Christian Siriano, Monique Lhuillier, Jason Wu, Thakoon, Kate Spade, Lacoste, Prabal Gurung, DVF, Rebecca Minkoff, Alexander Wang, and more (see, I told you it was a lot!). The rest of my favorites will show up this weekend.

All original, individual model photos are from New York Magazine (but if it’s any consolation, I did divide and Picstitch them together myself!).

CHRISTIAN SIRIANO

All of it. I want all of it. I need all of it. I MUST HAVE ALL OF IT. <swoon>

<faints> Christian Siriano wins NYFW. Everybody else can just go home.

KATE SPADE

JASON WU

DIANE VON FURSTENBERG

Oh, the gingham outfit is positively precious, and the model is gorgeous.

(L to R) ESCADA, LACOSTE, M MISSONI, M MISSONI

MONIQUE LHUILLIER

REBECCA MINKOFF

THAKOON

Does the name sound familiar? It should. Thakoon designed Emma Stone’s effortlessly flawless pink gown for this year’s Met Ball.

PRABAL GURUNG

I had high hopes for Prabal Gurung. Unfortuately, for the most part, I was disappointed.

Behind the Catwalk: NYFW S/S 2015

One of the coolest things about Instagram is that it’s become a place for designers, models, celebrities, and bloggers to post photos from behind the scenes at fashion shows. Here’s a collection of some of my favorite looks and behind the curtain snapshots from New York Fashion Week’s Spring/Summer 2015 looks.

The Best Dressed on the Most Famous Red Carpet of the Year

It’s the Super Bowl of fashion! Here are my favorite looks from the Oscars’ Red Carpet.

The accessories, her makeup, and her fabulous hair are what really pull this whole look together. Be-au-ti-ful!

This dress was featured at NYFW! It seems rather non-conventional as an Oscar dress, but I love that she was willing to try something a little different. So fun!

The dress is alright. I mean, it’s reminiscent of a lampshade, but I love the color, and her hair and makeup are perfection.

Eee! The baby blue color! The headband! The spectacular ear-cuff-like earrings! So much to love!

I’m not crazy about her hair and makeup, but this dress fits like a glove and is simple and modern at the same time.

This dress KILLED it. I don’t think she’s ever looked better. I love everything about this look.

Love the makeup, love the metallic. This girl can do no wrong.

This is the first time in about a year that JLaw has worn a Dior creation that I genuinely liked. The red is spectacular, and the peplum is perfect. I also love that she brought back that same reverse-style necklace.

Pretty as a flower. Her makeup and hair are glorious.

You know what I’ve always wondered, though? What the people who actually design these dresses think when they see an actress walking down the red carpet in their creation. Particularly what they think if the actress alters the dress in a way that makes it look terrible. I mean, some dresses are just hideous to begin with, but others only seem hideous because the actress’s stylist simply hemmed, altered, or accessorized it completely wrong. ┬áThat’s got to be frustrating. All of a sudden, the actress falls into the “worst dressed”lists, but it’s not the dress itself that landed her (and the designer) there. #awkward

Behind the Catwalk: the Best of New York Fashion Week

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is upon us! Here are some of my favorite looks and behind-the-scenes photos from NYFW so far. Most of these came from social media (Instagram and Facebook), while a few came from Women’s Wear Daily.

Warning: I’m a huge fan of sophisticated, princess-y, and classic styles. If I could have a combination of Kate Middleton’s wardrobe and Zooey Deschanel’s wardrobe, I would be happier than a bird with a french fry. This photo gallery probably reflects that.
